Mario's Gallery of Power-Ups (1985-1996) by JamesmanTheRegenold Mario's Gallery of Power-Ups (1985-1996) by JamesmanTheRegenold
- (2006-2012)

Motivation struck again for Mario imagery, so here's a collection of old Power Ups Mario has made use of in the past. These Power-Ups Include ~

Fire Mario (Fire Flower) -Commonly Used Power Up-
Raccoon Mario (Super Leaf) -Super Mario Bros. 3-
Frog Mario (Frog Suit) -Super Mario Bros. 3-
Tanooki/Statue Mario (Tanooki Suit) -Super Mario Bros. 3-
Hammer Mario (Hammer Suit) -Super Mario Bros. 3-
Shoe Mario (Goomba's Shoe) -Super Mario Bros. 3-
Cape Mario (Cape Feather) -Super Mario World-
Balloon Mario (P-Balloon) -Super Mario World-
Bunny Mario (Carrot) -Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins-
Metal Mario (Metal Cap) -Super Mario 64-
Vanish Mario (Vanish Cap) -Super Mario 64-
and finally ~
Wing Mario (Wing Feather/Cap) -Super Mario 64/DS-

While I managed on including most notable Power-Ups, I did intentionally skip a few, such as the Starman and Yoshi. Yoshi was planned and attempted but I was having some trouble drawing a good pose for them both so I ultimately left him out. The Hammer from Donkey Kong was also considered, but I decided against using it since that's from a sub-series unrelated to the Super Mario games. The Super Ball from Super Mario Land wasn't even given a thought since that was only made to compliment the GB's limitations, and the Sky & Marine Pop weren't considered either (though I wouldn't mind drawing them someday).

I hope to do some more in the future, starting off with those found in Super Mario 64 and ending with the Power-Ups from 3D Land. Until then, enjoy. =)

AWESOME AWESOME!!!!!
I have to say that Super Mario Bros. 3 brought the most Power Up memories ^.^ I LOVE the Tanooki Suit, Frog Suit and the Super Leaf!!! :happybounce:

...as a programmer, I'm actually wondering why you're saying the superball was a workaround because of the GB's limitations.
What limitations?

It seems like a deliberate design choice to me. A lot of the game's coin collecting and enemy placement revolves around those superballs.

Hi, I love your work, very cool. Has inspired me to do some Nintendo based art. I had a quick question. Do you use vectors to colour your out lines and main image or do you brush paint (pixel) them in whatever program you use to do digital paintings. I'm more of a paint brush digital artist but I love the crisp colours you have achieved.

Cheers
