I really like this!! It sounds like an epic combo of all the classics, yet with its own twist that makes it individual. Very impressive! It also has the feel that its going to be stuck in someone's head for all eternity, just like all the best music from the most loved games. Excellent job!
I really like it, but personally, it just doesn't feel like a battle theme for me. It's too fast and too upbeat. Hearing this music reminds me on a fast way to travel the worldmap (Airship, Chocobo, something along that lines).
Though I'm not a musical expert, just a retro gamer x3
Still... I think it would annoy me a lot as a battle theme. In a game, you hear the battle theme over and over and over again. For hours. So I, personally, would prefer a battle theme that fades more into the background and only support the speed and pace of the fighting system. Going more intense for special fights and boss fights.
While a prominent theme like this one is more supporting for moments that don't require you to think a lot or hear it on repeat a lot - like traveling ^^
Well, I mostly took inspiration from some of the Mario & Luigi Battle Themes (primarily the ones from Bowser's Inside Story), which are probably the most fast and upbeat Battle Songs I've heard in an RPG. So apologies if that isn't your ideal tone, that's kinda what I wanted here. xD
Honestly, I think you could have done a better job on this. From what I've heard you compose, this falls short of my expectations....I think the baseline and lead are a little too staccato. If you sustained every other note of the lead and added some portmanteaus, you'd fill up the "dead time" and might get a really good syncopated beat going! It really sounds to me like there's a lot of "dead time" in the lead which the baseline really doesn't help to fill. The intro sounded good, though. Why not introduce some instruments in the song with a similar pitch to that part?
